Absolutely fantastic retelling, and the audio version really brings out the best of it! I had no idea about the Pelaco Bill character, drew out a "hoo boy" at his first mention (the ad dressing him up as Don Bradman is truly the cherry on this ironic cake). Will need to look up Richard Broome's work on him when I'm back in library access. Great work as always Sean!

I really struggled to tell this story. It was by all accounts a great place for women to work (at the time), but the racist marketing overshadowed the entire brand in my opinion. I was hoping to find more photos of Mulga Fred, who supposedly was pretty well known, but he has proven to be elusive as well.

Fantastic in-depth history as usual Sean incased within your lovely sense of humour. Know the sign well as lived in Richmond in the 1990s. The PELACO sign is an icon of Richmond sitting proud atop the hill , on the eastern side sits the Skipping Girl neon. I love the fact you know of the Dogs in Space house!
